ZACH THOMPSON

PAINTING

Zach Thompson is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Detroit.

In his paintings, he attempts to capture the intricate tapestry of human emotion and the delicate fragility of life. Inspired by nature’s ability to adapt and endure, his work processes the ways we strive to immortalize and appreciate our complicated existence.

Drawing from the ever-evolving landscape of artistic expression and digital communication, Thompson explores the essence of what it means to be alive in an age where our boundaries between the tangible and the virtual blur. Each painting reflects the highs and lows of human emotion, celebrating moments of joy, resilience, and introspection.

Through his art, Thompson invites viewers to reflect on the transient nature of life while finding beauty and meaning in our shared humanity. We find solace in our collective vulnerability, embracing the fleeting moments that define our existence and appreciating them with a sense of timeless significance.

ZERO, his sophomore solo exhibition with PLAYGROUND DETROIT opens to the public in July 2026.
