In Noir Star, Miriam Uhura celebrates the richness of Black individuality through portraits that radiate power and presence. Her subjects — adorned with bright colors, gold grills, and symbolic references — embody both personal and collective strength. Each work becomes an act of affirmation, capturing the spirit, style, and joy that define the community.

Uhura’s journey as a self-taught artist is rooted in courage and discovery. Art became her language for vulnerability — a space where she could confront fear and transform it into freedom. Through her brushstrokes, she translates emotion into color, shaping images that speak as much about her own evolution as they do about her subjects.

Each portrait functions as a mirror: a reflection of self and a recognition of others. For Miriam, painting is not only about depicting faces but about creating connection. She invites her audience to feel seen — to share in the energy and humanity that bind artist, subject, and viewer together.
