IMBOLC is a festival of art, music, poetry, and food every first weekend of February. An ancient Gaelic holiday, the festival welcomes the start of spring, plans the year’s harvest, and honors Brigid, a queer Celtic goddess of healing, poetry, wisdom, fire, and the harvest.
It is also a social practice project by artist Daniel Sharp, asking the question: what happens when we reclaim ancient rituals, and how can we reimagine them to counter today’s crisis of community?
Since 2023, 1,000+ people have attended 16 events across 15 venues for Imbolc, distributing $15,600 to 35+ artists, co-ops, nonprofits, and small businesses. For 2026, 15 events are planned across five days and six venues, showcasing the work of over 75 artists in Detroit and beyond.

Imbolc 2026 is co-hosted across Detroit and Hamtramck, MI, including Detroit Design District at the Boyer-Campbell Building; Vander Detroit; Black Salt; Moondog Café; a private home in Woodbridge; and an undisclosed location.
