Dustin Cook (b. 1995) is an abstract artist living and working in Detroit, MI. His practice explores color, energy, and the relationship between form and atmosphere through a playful and intuitive process. Using bold, clean lines and geometric precision, Cook creates rhythmic compositions that invite viewers into dynamic fields of abstraction.
Color plays a central role in his work, serving as a vehicle to express emotional qualities drawn from both nature and the urban environment. Through vibrant palettes and contrasting hues, his paintings balance harmony and tension while evoking varied atmospheres—from moments of tranquility to the energetic pulse of the city.
My artistic process is driven by a playful and intuitive approach. Using bold, clean lines and geometric precision, I create compositions that dance with rhythmic vitality, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a world of dynamic abstraction.”
– Dustin Cook
Cook’s work ultimately seeks to evoke joy, wonder, and contemplation, offering visual experiences where color, form, and energy converge. Drawing inspiration from natural landscapes, architectural structures, and urban rhythms, his abstract language reflects the dynamism of the world around us.

PLAYGROUND DETROIT presented Dustin’s debut solo exhibition, “Tumble” (2019) upon graduation from the College of Creative Studies, and his most recent solo exhibition, “Contours,” (2025). In July 2025, Cook presented work at Hamptons Fine Art Fair alongside two other artists.
